Nakuru County’s Commitment to Empowering Youth through Sports

Josephine Atieno, the County Executive Committee Member for Youth, Sports, Gender, and Social Services, recently graced the Kapkures Cup tournament hosted by MCA Hon Robert Kiplang’at. Riverside FC and Kapkures Volleyball teams emerged victorious in football and volleyball, respectively, with the MCA distributing sports equipment to the ward’s beneficiaries.

CEC Atieno encouraged the youth to embrace sports for both enjoyment and income, confirming plans for this year’s Governor’s Cup tournament featuring all sports disciplines. Chief Officer for Youth, Talent, and Sports Pst Alex Maina hinted at job opportunities for young people through digital platforms, aiming to create over 100,000 positions across the county.

Chief Officer for Livestock and Fisheries Dr Michael Cheruiyot highlighted areas of collaboration with young people in the county for economic empowerment through talents, sports, entrepreneurial skills, etc. The attending MCAs praised the Governor’s working relationship with the County Assembly, ensuring better service delivery to the residents.

Caroline Nulu, the Sports Officer for Nakuru Town West Sub-county, vividly affirmed the department’s commitment to supporting and nurturing talents across the county. Notable attendees included Hon. Alex Bor (MCA Kiptororo), Hon Bernard Kirui (MCA Barut), Hon Leah Serem (Nominated MCA), and Hon William Mutai (MCA Keringet), among others.
